The platform is the point

Used daily for 2+ years

We run sales, partner management and two custom apps on one org. That consolidation story is why Salesforce keeps winning our renewals despite sticker shock. AppExchange had a vetted answer for every niche need we hit this year.

Pros

Custom objects/apps, AppExchange, admin talent is easy to hire.

Cons

Licensing complexity requires a spreadsheet to understand; storage costs are predatory.

Still the enterprise gold standard

Used daily for 2+ years

At 200+ reps with territory math, CPQ and a compliance team, nothing else credibly bids. Flows replaced most of our old Apex; admins ship changes weekly. Total cost is enormous and worth it at our scale — below ~50 seats I would look elsewhere first.

Pros

Limitless configurability, ecosystem depth, Einstein forecasting is genuinely good now.

Cons

Cost of ownership: licenses, admins, consultants, add-ons. Everything is extra.

Powerful, oversized for mid-market us

Used weekly for 1–2 years

We adopted it at 40 reps anticipating growth that came slower than planned. We use maybe 30% of what we pay for, and every process change needs our admin. It is not bad software — it is too much software for where we are, and leaving is its own project.

Pros

It can do literally anything we ask.

Cons

We pay for everything it can do, not what we use. Change velocity bottlenecked on admin.

Regulated-industry requirements met, at a price

Used daily for 2+ years

Field-level audit history, granular sharing rules and Shield encryption satisfied banking compliance where lighter CRMs failed review. Implementation ran nine months with a partner. It does what nothing else could; just do not expect reps to call it pleasant.

Pros

Compliance tooling, permission depth, platform stability.

Cons

Rep-facing UX requires customization budget to make bearable; slow page loads.

From the implementation side: scope honestly

Used monthly for 2+ years

I have delivered eleven Sales Cloud projects. The successful ones share one trait: they implemented 60% of the wishlist and shipped in twelve weeks. The failures tried to encode every exception before go-live. The product rewards restraint that buyers rarely bring.

Pros

Mature platform, superb documentation and trailhead training.

Cons

Consultant dependency by design; small process changes should not need billable hours.
