How Saaspare ranks software
No editorial favorites, no pay-to-play, no black box. Every ranking on this site is produced by one published formula over first-party data — here is the whole thing, term by term.

The formula
The rank score
Computed per tool, per category, and recomputed whenever reviews change. Higher is better; 100 is a perfect score.
Published ranking formula
rank = 100 × (0.50 × quality + 0.30 × volume + 0.20 × freshness)
Three terms, three weights, zero manual overrides. Sponsored placement never enters this equation.
Rating quality quality
The tool's average rating, Bayesian-damped with a prior weight of 10 at the category mean. A 5.0 from two reviews can't leapfrog a 4.6 from two hundred — small samples get pulled toward the category average until they earn their score.
Review volume volume
Review count on a logarithmic scale, relative to the category maximum. Log scaling means going from 10 to 100 reviews matters a lot; going from 1,000 to 1,090 barely moves the needle.
Freshness freshness
The share of a tool's reviews written in the last 12 months. Software changes fast — a great 2022 review shouldn't carry a 2026 ranking.
The moat
How we verify reviews
Every rating that feeds the formula passes the same pipeline — no exceptions, no imported third-party reviews.
1.Automated pre-checks
Every submission is screened for duplicate IP hashes, link spam, profanity, and minimum length before a human ever sees it.
2.Human moderation
A moderator reads every review. The state machine is append-only: pending → approved or rejected — nothing is silently edited.
3.Reviewer validation
Reviewers who verify a business email earn the Validated Reviewer badge, shown on every one of their reviews.
4.Zero incentives
We never pay, gate, or swap gift cards for reviews, and we track review source so invited and organic feedback are never blurred. One review per person per tool.
First-party data
How we fact-check pricing
Pricing benchmarks on Saaspare are computed from our own database — never scraped aggregates.
A source for every number
Every plan we publish stores the vendor pricing-page URL it came from and the date an editor verified it. Tool pages show it as “Pricing verified {date}.”
Quarterly refresh
Any price older than 90 days lands in a re-verification queue. Median, minimum, and maximum category benchmarks are recomputed live from verified plans only.
Apples to apples
We normalize to a monthly per-unit price with the billing unit stated (“per user, per month, billed annually”), so comparisons across tools mean what they say.

What vendors can and can't do
We earn affiliate commissions on some outbound clicks — here is exactly where the line sits.
Vendors can
- Respond publicly to any review, labeled “Response from {vendor}”
- Claim their listing and submit pricing updates for editorial review
- Buy a clearly-labeled sponsored slot in a category
Vendors can never
- Edit, hide, or reorder ratings and reviews — ever
- Pay to improve their rank score or category position
- Run sponsored placements that affect rankings — sponsored slots are always labeled and sit outside the ranked list
