Free to 10,000 subscribers is not a typo

Used weekly for 1–2 years

I grew a newsletter to 6,000 subscribers and sold a digital product without paying anything. When I did upgrade it was because I wanted the automation, not because I hit a wall. That is an unusually honest free tier.

Pros

Extraordinary free plan. Selling products and subscriptions needs no extra tooling.

Cons

No SMS, minimal A/B testing. Clearly not built for company marketing.

Problems it solves

Monetised a newsletter without stitching together three separate services.

Tags instead of lists is the right model

Used weekly for 6–12 months

Every list-based platform billed me twice for people who subscribed to two things. Kit has one subscriber record with tags and the problem disappears. Small design decision, large practical difference.

Pros

Tag model, plain-text emails that get read, Creator Network actually grew my list.

Cons

Automation is simpler than ActiveCampaign. Reporting is basic.

Wrong tool for my consulting business

Used monthly for less than 6 months

Bought it on a recommendation without noticing it is built for creators. No real CRM, no sales-shaped features, no SMS. Great software, I just was not who it was for.

Pros

Clean interface, excellent deliverability, easy broadcasts.

Cons

Missing everything a B2B service business needs from email.
