Our verdict

Updated Aug 12, 2026

ClickUp packs more in; monday.com gets more people using it. These are the category's two maximalists, but they sprawl in different directions. ClickUp's depth targets power users: 15+ views, granular custom fields, native docs and time tracking on the $7 Unlimited tier — cheaper than monday's $9 Basic, which withholds timelines and guests until Standard ($12). For feature-per-dollar, ClickUp is untouchable. monday.com's genius is legibility: color-block boards a client can read at a glance, plain-English automation recipes ops managers write themselves, and unlimited free viewers that make it the stakeholder-friendly choice — decisive for agencies. Reliability perceptions in our reviews also tilt monday's way, with ClickUp still fielding occasional performance complaints on large workspaces. Our switcher data (monday → ClickUp) points to pricing at scale, since monday's per-seat costs climb across tiers while metered automation actions add anxiety. Choose ClickUp for an internal team consolidating tools; choose monday.com when outside eyes — clients, execs, cross-department stakeholders — are half the point.

monday boards were fine but every brief lived in Google Docs, disconnected. ClickUp docs attach to the work itself. Pricing was also roughly half for our seat count at the tier we needed. Migration was the messiest part — exports needed manual cleanup.
Oliver H.

Why: Cost per seat and disconnected documents.
