“The link index is the reason, everything else is a bonus”

Used daily for 2+ years

We ran Ahrefs and Semrush side by side for three months on the same client. Ahrefs consistently found links three to five days earlier and kept history the other had dropped. For link building that is the whole job.

Pros

Link freshness and depth. Interface I can hand to a junior without a training session.

Cons

Credits vanish during a competitive research week. Lite plan is not a real working plan.

Problems it solves

Made outreach reporting credible — we can show links appearing rather than guessing.

“Expensive, and we pay it without complaint”

Used daily for 2+ years

Two hundred a month per agency seat is real money for a small shop. We have tried to replace it twice with cheaper combinations and both times the link data gap sent us back within a quarter.

Pros

Data quality that survives comparison. Keyword difficulty matches what actually happens.

Cons

No trial makes it a leap of faith. Seats are expensive if more than one person needs access.
