“The first two weeks are genuinely hard”

I came from Squarespace expecting a nicer version of the same thing and it is not that at all. It is a front-end tool with training wheels. Once the box model clicked it became the best software I use; before that I nearly gave up twice.

Pros

Total control once you understand it. Interactions without writing JavaScript.

Cons

Brutal onboarding. Site plans plus seats meant our bill was double what I first calculated.

“Chosen for SEO, kept for the CMS”

Used weekly for 1–2 years

We moved because organic traffic mattered and we needed clean markup, redirects and schema. We stayed because the CMS lets marketing publish 200 location pages from one template without touching design.

Pros

Full SEO control. Structured CMS is a real content model.

Cons

Client editing is workable but not as simple as Squarespace for non-technical staff.
