“Reliability is the product at our volume”

Used daily for 1–2 years

We collect about two million pages a month and the business depends on it arriving. Bright Data is the only provider we have used where a bad week did not mean explaining a data gap to stakeholders. The per-gigabyte price stops mattering once you have had that conversation.

Pros

Consistency at volume. The scraper API removed a maintenance burden entirely.

Cons

Pricing takes genuine effort to model across products.

Problems it solves

Made large-scale collection something we no longer worry about.

“Cheapest per successful request, dearest per GB”

We moved to a cheaper provider to save money and our success rate on the hardest target fell from 97% to 61%. Once we counted retries and wasted bandwidth we were spending more, and my engineers were babysitting it. Came back within six weeks.

Pros

Success rate on defended targets is genuinely different. Scraper API removed our unblocking code entirely.

Cons

Per-GB price is eye-watering until you do the real arithmetic.

Problems it solves

Stopped maintaining unblocking logic that broke every few weeks.

“The only one our legal team cleared”

Used weekly for 1–2 years

We needed documented IP sourcing, KYC and a compliance contact before procurement would approve any proxy vendor. Bright Data had all of it published. Two cheaper providers could not answer the sourcing question at all.

Pros

Compliance framework is real and documented. Use-case review is thorough.

Cons

Onboarding took three weeks because of that review. Worth it, but plan for it.
