Our forum answers support tickets we never receive

Used daily for 2+ years

Public threads rank, so people find the answer before they email us. Support volume dropped noticeably in the first year and the archive keeps compounding. No private community could do that.

Pros

SEO value is the hidden benefit. Search inside it is genuinely good. We self-host and own everything.

Cons

Self-hosting means I handle upgrades. That is a real, recurring job.

Problems it solves

Cut inbound support volume by deflecting to indexed community answers.

Trust levels solved moderation at scale

Used daily for 2+ years

At 20,000 members, manual moderation was impossible. Trust levels let the community police itself as members earn privileges, and the flag queue handles the rest. Nothing else here operates at that size.

Pros

Moderation and governance tooling is in a different league.

Cons

Setting it up properly took a technical person a week.

My members said it felt like 2009

Used weekly for less than 6 months

I run a coaching community and moved to Discourse for the ownership. Members hated it — they wanted something that felt like an app, not a message board. Moved back within three months.

Pros

Technically excellent, and free if you self-host.

Cons

Wrong shape for a consumer paid community.
