“Visual building without the lock-in”

Used daily for 1–2 years

I can build screens ten times faster than writing Flutter by hand, and if FlutterFlow disappeared tomorrow I have the source in GitHub. That combination is the only thing that made a visual builder acceptable to me as an engineer.

Pros

Exported code is genuinely readable. Custom Dart functions mean no hard ceiling.

Cons

Non-technical colleagues cannot use it at all despite the marketing.

Problems it solves

Cut mobile UI build time dramatically without giving up code ownership.

“Shipped two client apps to both stores”

Used weekly for 1–2 years

Deployment to App Store and Play Store from the platform worked with fewer problems than our hand-rolled pipeline. Firebase integration saved us building an auth layer twice.

Pros

Real native builds. Store deployment is genuinely one-click once configured.

Cons

Debugging a state issue means reading generated code, which defeats the point for some clients.

“Not for a non-technical founder”

Used monthly for less than 6 months

I can use Softr and Glide fine. I could not make FlutterFlow work — data models, state and Firebase rules were beyond me and the documentation assumes you know them. It is a developer tool with a visual interface.

Pros

Clearly powerful in the right hands.

Cons

The "no-code" label is misleading for this product.
