“Deep Research does a junior analyst's first pass”

Used weekly for 6–12 months

I ask for a market overview with sources and get fifteen pages of properly cited material in a few minutes. It is not a finished deliverable, but it is a genuinely useful starting point and the citations hold up when I check them.

Pros

Deep Research and NotebookLM. Huge context window handles our whole project folder.

Cons

The consumer and Workspace plans overlap confusingly. Video generation is fun but rarely useful for our work.

“Good, not clearly better”

Used daily for 1–2 years

Perfectly capable. In blind comparison against ChatGPT on our own tasks it won about a third of the time and lost about a third. We stayed on it purely because we are a Google shop — I would not switch to it otherwise.

Pros

Solid all-rounder, excellent inside Workspace.

Cons

No standout advantage outside the Google ecosystem.
