Business plan or do not bother

Used weekly for 2+ years

A client bought Premium because it sounded sufficient, then discovered no plugins. That is the whole platform for most people. On Business it is excellent — managed WordPress without the server — but the lower tiers are a trap for anyone who chose WordPress for the ecosystem.

Pros

Full plugin access and managed hosting on Business. Export means we can move a client anywhere.

Cons

Plan naming actively misleads. Premium sounds like the good one and is not.

Problems it solves

Gave clients WordPress power without us administering servers.

Chose it because we can leave

Used weekly for 1–2 years

After being trapped on a proprietary builder for three years, portability became a hard requirement. WordPress exports a real file that any host imports. We may never use it, and knowing we can changed the risk calculation entirely.

Pros

No lock-in. Enormous ecosystem. Backups and updates handled.

Cons

Took longer to look good than Squarespace would have. Two plugins conflicted and cost me an evening.
