Same automations, a fifth of the price

Used daily for 1–2 years

Migrated eleven workflows from Zapier over a fortnight. The rebuild was real work — the canvas is a different way of thinking — but our monthly automation bill went from about £400 to £80 and the branching logic is cleaner than it ever was before.

Pros

Routers and iterators express what we actually do. Operations pricing is dramatically better at volume.

Cons

Took me a solid week to be productive. Our ops manager still will not touch it.

Problems it solves

Cut automation spend by roughly 80% while making the workflows easier to reason about.

Powerful, unforgiving about data shapes

Used daily for 6–12 months

When it works it is a joy. When a mapping is wrong the error tells you almost nothing useful and you are clicking through execution history guessing. Budget debugging time until you know its habits.

Pros

Genuinely capable branching. Execution history is detailed once you know how to read it.

Cons

Error messages are the weakest part of the product by a distance.

Great for us, wrong for the client to maintain

Used weekly for 1–2 years

We build client automations in Make because it is cheaper and more capable. The handover is the problem — clients cannot maintain a canvas, and we end up on a retainer. For anything the client must own themselves we still use Zapier.

Pros

Excellent build experience and economics for an agency.

Cons

Non-technical handover is unrealistic. Fewer integrations than Zapier for niche client tools.
