Make is the better automation product and the cheaper one; Zapier beats it only on coverage and first-day simplicity. The canvas is the difference — you see the whole workflow as a diagram, branch with routers, iterate over arrays properly, and attach error handlers to individual modules. The economics are lopsided in Make's favour. Operations are cheaper than Zapier tasks and the included volumes are far larger, so the same workflows commonly cost a third to a fifth as much. The canvas rewards a mental model of data flowing through modules, and people who never build that model find it confusing rather than powerful — expect a week rather than an afternoon.
