“One subscription for the whole house”

Used daily for 1–2 years

Five people, about sixteen devices between us including two smart TVs. Every other provider wanted a second subscription. Surfshark simply does not count, which turned a per-device problem into a non-problem.

Pros

Unlimited devices is not marketing, it genuinely works. Cheap on a two-year plan.

Cons

Renewal will be roughly three times what I paid. Diarised to renegotiate.

Problems it solves

Covered an entire household on one subscription.

“Good enough, and much cheaper”

I compared it against NordVPN for a fortnight. Nord is faster on long routes; on anything I actually do — streaming, calls, café Wi-Fi — I could not tell them apart, and Surfshark cost half as much.

Pros

Value is the whole argument and it holds. Apps are cleaner than Nord's.

Cons

Long-distance transfers are measurably slower if you care about that.

“Common ownership gave us pause”

We shortlisted Surfshark and NordVPN as independent options and then discovered they share a parent. That is not disqualifying but it does undermine the point of comparing them, and it is not prominently disclosed.

Pros

Solid product at a genuinely low price.

Cons

Buyers assume independence between the two brands. Worth knowing.
