Brand kit ended the review bottleneck

Used daily for 2+ years

Locked fonts, colours and logos mean the team produces on-brand work without routing everything through me. Output quality went up and my review queue emptied. For the money it is the highest-leverage tool we buy.

Pros

Brand kit and template locking. Anyone is productive in minutes.

Cons

No components or handoff — anything becoming software has to be designed elsewhere.

Problems it solves

Marketing stopped waiting on a designer for routine assets.

Cheap enough that the decision is trivial

Used daily for 1–2 years

Ten dollars a head for a team that produces social, decks and one-pagers daily. The AI background removal and resize features alone save more time than they cost.

Pros

Price, template library, Magic Studio tools genuinely useful.

Cons

Output looks templated if people do not customise. Large files get sluggish.

We run Canva and Figma, not one or the other

Used daily for 2+ years

Tried to consolidate onto one tool twice and both attempts failed. Client-facing collateral in Canva, product work in Figma. Combined cost is still trivial against a designer day.

Pros

Perfect for client decks and social. Collaboration is easy for non-technical staff.

Cons

Not a substitute for a real design tool, despite what people assume.
