The deciding difference is how you pay and where it runs. Final Cut Pro for Mac is a one-time $299.99 purchase, and Apple says owners continue to receive updates, but it runs only on Mac and iPad. Apple also sells it in Apple Creator Studio, at $12.99 a month or $129 a year with Motion, Compressor and Logic Pro, though subscribers need an active subscription to open or edit their projects. Premiere Pro runs on macOS and Windows and is sold only by membership: the single-app plan costs $22.99 a month on a one-year commitment, and cancelling after 14 days costs half the remaining contract. That price buys Team Projects, which puts several editors on one timeline in real time, and Dynamic Link to After Effects. A year of Premiere costs a little less than Final Cut Pro, so the purchase is cheaper from the second year. Choose Final Cut Pro for solo or all-Mac editing; choose Premiere for mixed Mac and Windows teams or After Effects work.
