Buffer vs Hootsuite: Which is better in 2026?

Our verdict
Buffer costs a fraction of Hootsuite for the job most teams actually do, and the pricing models explain why. Hootsuite Standard is $99 a month for one user and ten accounts; Buffer is $5 per channel with unlimited team members, so a three-person team running six profiles pays roughly $30 against $99 — and gets a cleaner interface and, in our 30-day test, more reliable publishing. Hootsuite's counter is breadth: paid social management, streams-based monitoring across many keywords, listening on Enterprise, mature SSO and a much larger integration library. Those matter at genuine enterprise scale and are irrelevant below it. Our review data is unusually one-sided here — Hootsuite's most common complaints are price increases and dated interface, while teams that moved to Buffer rarely move back. Stay on Hootsuite if you are embedded, running dozens of accounts and using the enterprise features. For almost every new buyer under fifty people, Buffer or Metricool is the better purchase.
