Key takeaways

from our research

  1. Widest network and integration coverage, including social advertising

  2. Streams monitoring remains strong for watching many accounts at once

  3. Repeated price increases and feature migration are the top complaint

  4. Interface and publishing reliability trail newer rivals

Our verdict

Updated Aug 25, 2026Fact-checked Aug 2, 2026

Hootsuite is bought for continuity and coverage more than for delight. It supports every network with genuine depth, includes social advertising management that most rivals omit, and has the compliance posture, SSO and permissions that large organisations require. For a company already standardised on it, the case for staying is reasonable.

Coverage is the honest strength. Streams-based monitoring remains useful for teams watching many keywords and accounts simultaneously, listening is available, and the integration library — Salesforce, Zendesk, Adobe and hundreds more — is the widest here. Enterprise procurement teams also know the vendor, which shortens the buying cycle.

The complaints are consistent and worth weighing. Pricing has moved repeatedly and upward, with users reporting large renewal increases and features migrating to higher tiers. The interface shows its age against Buffer or Sprout, and our reviewers describe the Professional tier's single-user limit as poor value at $99. In our publishing test it also had more failed posts than Buffer or Later.

Our guidance: reasonable to keep if you are already on it and the workflows are embedded. Hard to recommend as a new purchase — Sprout is better at the premium end and Metricool is far better value below it.

Kept it because moving 40 accounts is worse

Used daily for 2+ years

It works, procurement knows the vendor, and our SSO and permissions are configured. None of that is enthusiasm. If we were choosing today I do not think we would land here, but the migration cost across forty accounts exceeds the difference.

Ninety-nine dollars for one user is not competitive

Used weekly for 6–12 months

The Standard plan gives you ten accounts and a single login. Buffer gives unlimited users. For a three-person team the comparison is brutal, and we left within the first year.
