Our verdict
The deciding difference is what it costs to model a custom sales process. Salesforce adds custom objects, Flow Builder, quotes and forecasting on Pro Suite, at $100 per user a month on an annual contract, plus $25 per user a month for API access, and territories, opportunity splits and approval processes on Core, at $195. HubSpot keeps custom objects for Sales Hub Enterprise, at $150 per seat a month billed annually plus a required one-time $3,500 onboarding fee, and new accounts need Revenue Hub Professional or Enterprise for quotes. At the low end HubSpot costs less: both have a free plan for 2 users, but HubSpot's Starter is $7 a seat a month billed yearly, a limited-time rate against a $20 list price, and includes 500 calling minutes a month for the account, while Salesforce's Starter Suite costs $25 per user a month and calling needs the paid Salesforce Voice add-on. Choose HubSpot for a low-cost start with calling built in. Choose Salesforce when the process needs custom objects, territories or approvals and someone can own the configuration.
