Bluehost

Bluehost is easy to start with and hard to recommend once you have compared it. The onboarding is genuinely the friendliest here — free domain, guided WordPress setup, and a control panel that walks a first-timer through publishing. For someone who has never made a website, that lowers a real barrier.

Beyond that, the comparison goes badly. In our 60-day test it posted the slowest average load times and the lowest uptime of the five, degraded earliest under load testing, and returned the slowest support responses with the highest rate of answers that did not address the question. Renewal pricing follows the category's worst pattern, roughly tripling after the first term, and the checkout aggressively pre-selects paid add-ons that inflate the total.

It is not a bad host in absolute terms — a low-traffic site will run on it perfectly adequately, which is why millions do. But at similar renewal prices Hostinger was faster and SiteGround's support was in a different league, and there is no dimension on which Bluehost led our testing.

Our guidance: acceptable if the WordPress.org recommendation and hand-holding onboarding matter to you and your site is small. If you are comparing at all, Hostinger costs less and performs better, and SiteGround costs similar and supports you far better.
