“One click to offboard is worth the price alone”

Used weekly for 1–2 years

Someone leaves and their payroll, Google account, Slack, GitHub and laptop return are all handled in one action. We used to run a fourteen-item checklist and still missed things. That is a security control, not a convenience.

Pros

HR and IT genuinely unified. Automation builder is powerful.

Cons

Implementation took six weeks. Quote-based pricing accumulated across modules faster than expected.

Problems it solves

Offboarding stopped leaving orphaned accounts behind.

“Powerful, and priced like it”

Used weekly for 1–2 years

Every module is good. The total, once you have HR, payroll, IT and spend, is considerably more than the per-employee headline suggests. Get a full quote for the modules you will actually use before comparing to Gusto.

Pros

Breadth is unmatched. Device shipping and provisioning work well.

Cons

Opaque pricing. Heavier setup than payroll-first tools.

“Too much platform for our size”

Used monthly for 6–12 months

At 22 people with no laptop fleet we were paying for architecture we did not use. Moved to Gusto and lost nothing that mattered to us. Would revisit Rippling at 100+.

Pros

Impressive product, clearly built for scale.

Cons

Overkill and overpriced for a small team without IT complexity.
