Key takeaways
from our research
Generates the best-looking output of any tool in this group
Supabase auth, database and Stripe payments arrive already wired up
Credits are spent on failed attempts too, so debugging weeks are expensive
Free tier gives about 30 credits a month — enough to judge it properly
Our verdict
Lovable's real advantage is taste. Every tool in this half of the category can produce a working CRUD app; Lovable produces one that does not immediately look generated. Spacing, typography and component choices land closer to something a designer touched, and for a founder putting a landing page or a customer-facing product in front of real people, that difference matters more than a benchmark. It is the reason Lovable spread through startup circles faster than technically comparable rivals.
The Supabase integration is the other reason people stay. Authentication, a Postgres database and file storage arrive wired up rather than as an exercise, and Stripe payments follow the same pattern — so the gap between "demo" and "thing that can take money" is genuinely short. Reviewers who ship consistently mention this as the moment the tool stopped being a toy.
Credits are the friction, and they are worth understanding before you subscribe. Pro's 100 monthly credits plus the daily grant work out at roughly 250 a month, and a single stubborn debugging session can consume a meaningful fraction of that, because each attempt costs whether or not it worked. Several reviewers describe the same arc: fast, delightful progress for a fortnight, then a difficult week where credits go on fixing rather than building. And as with everything here, complexity has a ceiling — past a certain size you want a developer.
Our guidance: the best choice in this group if the thing you are building will be seen by customers. Start on the free tier, and buy Pro only once you know what a normal week costs you in credits.

“The only one whose output I would show a customer”
Used weekly for 6–12 months
I tried three of these and the others all produced something that screamed AI generated — same layout, same spacing, same everything. Lovable produced a site I was happy to put my name on. For a solo founder with no designer that is the entire value proposition.

“Brilliant for two weeks, then a hard week”
Used weekly for 6–12 months
The first fortnight felt like magic and I told everyone. Then I hit a bug it could not fix and watched it try the same wrong thing four times, each attempt costing credits. Learning to reset the conversation and describe the problem precisely fixed it, but nobody warns you about that week.

“We build client landing pages with it now”
Used weekly for 6–12 months
Small marketing sites that used to take a week of designer and developer time take a day. We are open with clients about how it is built and none have minded, because the result looks better than what our old template process produced.
