Visual-first planning for Instagram and TikTok

Key takeaways
from our research
Visual grid planner shows the feed as followers will see it
Best link-in-bio product bundled into a scheduler
Creator marketplace connects brand and influencer work in one tool
Non-visual networks and analytics feel secondary
Our verdict
Later is the right tool when the grid matters as much as the calendar. Its visual planner shows exactly how your Instagram profile will look once scheduled posts publish, and for brands where aesthetic coherence is part of the strategy that is a real workflow advantage nobody else replicates properly.
The short-form video support is the other strength. TikTok and Reels publishing is direct and reliable, hashtag suggestions are genuinely useful, and Linkin.bio remains the best-executed link-in-bio product bundled into a scheduler. The creator marketplace, included on higher tiers, connects brands with influencers in the same tool that plans the content — a sensible consolidation for consumer brands.
The weakness is everything outside visual social. LinkedIn, X and Facebook publishing work but feel like obligations rather than priorities, analytics are mid-tier, and the engagement inbox is limited. Pricing has also risen while post limits per profile remain, which several long-term reviewers describe as the reason they re-evaluated.
Our guidance: buy Later if Instagram and TikTok are your primary channels and visual planning matters. If your mix is B2B or spread evenly across networks, Buffer or Metricool will serve you better for less.

“The grid preview is why I stay”
Used daily for 1–2 years
For a visual brand the profile is a composition, not a list of posts. Being able to drag things around until the grid works before anything publishes is worth the subscription on its own, and no other tool does it properly.

“TikTok publishing that does not need a phone reminder”
Used daily for 6–12 months
Half the tools we trialled sent a push notification telling us to publish manually. Later posts directly, including Reels, which for a team scheduling a week ahead is the difference between useful and pointless.

“Wrong fit for a B2B client”
Used weekly for 6–12 months
We deployed it for a professional services client whose channels are LinkedIn and X. Everything Later is good at was irrelevant, and everything they needed was mediocre. Moved them to Buffer within a quarter.
