Adalo

Native mobile apps for non-developers

  • Adalo, Inc. · United States
  • Since 2018

Key takeaways

from our research

  1. Easiest route from idea to a real App Store listing for a non-developer

  2. Performance and logic limits appear earlier than in any rival here

  3. App-user pricing means growth increases cost quickly

  4. Best used to validate an idea rather than to build a lasting product

Our verdict

Updated Aug 25, 2026Fact-checked Aug 4, 2026

Adalo is the easiest way for a non-developer to get a real app into the App Store, and that is a narrower achievement than it sounds — but a real one. The editor is genuinely approachable, the database is simple enough to reason about, and publishing to both stores is handled rather than explained.

For simple applications it works: a community directory, a booking app, an internal tool with a few screens. Non-technical founders in our review data consistently report getting further with Adalo than with anything else before hitting a wall, and for validating an idea cheaply that is exactly the right property.

The wall arrives early and reviewers are consistent about where. Performance degrades noticeably past a few thousand records, complex conditional logic is awkward, and app-user-based pricing means success costs money quickly. Several describe rebuilding elsewhere within a year — which is a reasonable outcome for a prototype and an expensive one for a product.

Our guidance: good for validating a mobile idea or building something genuinely simple. If you already know the app needs real logic or scale, start on Bubble or FlutterFlow and accept the harder learning curve.

Got my idea into the App Store

Used weekly for 6–12 months

I am not technical and I had an app live in about three weeks. It validated the idea with real users, which is what I needed. We are rebuilding properly now, and I do not regard that as a failure of the tool.

Outgrew it in under a year

Used monthly for 1–2 years

Worked well for the first few hundred users. As data grew the app got slow and the pricing moved with our user count, so success made it worse on both axes. Migrated to Bubble, which took a month.
