Bubble is the only platform here where the ceiling is high enough that most teams never reach it. Real database design with relationships and privacy rules, workflows that express arbitrary conditional logic, API connections in both directions, and the ability to run a business on the result — several venture-funded companies have.

That power is inseparable from the difficulty. Bubble is programming with a visual syntax: you will meet states, conditionals, data types and performance considerations, and our reviewers consistently describe the first month as hard. People expecting drag-and-drop simplicity bounce off it. People who persist describe it as the reason they have a product at all.

Two practical warnings. Pricing moved to workload units in 2023 and the change was unpopular — costs became harder to predict, and a badly-built app can consume capacity fast. And performance requires deliberate design: apps that fetch too much data are slow, and the platform will let you build them. Neither is disqualifying; both need planning.
