Key takeaways
from our research
Most polished default output — apps look designed, not generated
Mobile-first by default, which suits field and floor staff properly
Moved upmarket with AI building and enterprise controls
Repeated pricing restructures are the top complaint from long-term users
Our verdict
Glide produces the most polished-looking internal app for the least effort, and it is the one non-technical staff build for themselves. Point it at a Google Sheet or Airtable base, and it generates a mobile-first app with navigation, search and detail views that looks designed rather than generated.
Its move upmarket has been substantial. AI-assisted building, Glide Tables as a native data layer, role-based permissions, and enterprise controls now make it credible for company-wide internal tooling rather than only departmental experiments. For field teams, inventory checks, inspections and any workflow where staff are on phones, the mobile-first default is exactly right.
The pricing shift that accompanied that move is the main complaint in our review data. Long-term users describe plans being restructured and costs rising sharply, with usage-based limits that punish success. It is also less suited to desktop-heavy applications, and complex logic still belongs elsewhere.
Our guidance: strong for mobile-first internal tools where polish matters and the data already exists. Compare against Softr on price for the same job — Softr is often cheaper for portals, Glide better for phone-first workflows.

“Our warehouse team built their own stock app”
Used daily for 1–2 years
Nobody in IT was involved. A supervisor connected the stock sheet and had a working phone app for cycle counts within a week. It looks better than the internal tools we have paid developers for.

“Great product, unsettling pricing history”
Used weekly for 2+ years
Three restructures in two years, each time upward and each time requiring us to re-justify the tool internally. The software has improved with them, but planning a budget around it is harder than it should be.

“Chose it over Softr for phone-first work”
Used daily for 6–12 months
We compared both for a field inspection app. Softr looked better on desktop, Glide was clearly better on a phone in a warehouse, which is where it would actually be used. That decided it.
