Key takeaways
from our research
Employer-of-record coverage across 150+ countries without local entities
Contractor management from around $49 per contractor per month; EOR from ~$599
Compare EOR fees against the real cost of registering your own entity at scale
Now a full HR suite, but the wrong purchase for single-country companies
Our verdict
Deel solves a problem that has no cheap solution: legally employing someone in a country where you have no legal entity.
The comparison people make — "$599 per month per employee is expensive next to a $6 HRIS" — misunderstands the alternative. Registering an entity abroad costs tens of thousands of dollars and months of legal work, and getting employment classification wrong carries penalties that dwarf either figure. Against that, an EOR fee is cheap. Deel covers 150+ countries, handles contracts, misclassification risk, local benefits and statutory requirements, and pays contractors in most currencies including crypto if you want it.
Execution matters as much as coverage, and Deel’s is strong. Contractor onboarding takes minutes rather than days, invoicing and compliance documents are automated, and the platform has expanded into a credible full HR suite with its own HRIS, US payroll and IT provisioning — which makes it viable as a single system for a globally distributed company rather than a bolt-on.
The caveats are ordinary. EOR pricing is per worker per month and adds up fast at scale, at which point opening your own entity becomes the cheaper path — Deel will tell you this, but model it yourself. Contractor-only management is much cheaper (around $49 per contractor per month) and is how most companies start. And for a company that hires exclusively in one country, Deel is simply the wrong product.
Our guidance: the moment you want to hire someone in a country where you have no entity, Deel is the answer. Until then, buy a domestic HRIS.

Pros & cons
Where Deel shines — and where it doesn't
What users love
- The broadest country coverage of any EOR we evaluated
- Contractor onboarding and compliance paperwork are genuinely fast
- Handles misclassification risk that would otherwise need local counsel
- Expanded HRIS and payroll make it viable as a single global system
Where it falls short
- Per-worker EOR pricing becomes expensive at scale
- Substantially more product than a domestic-only company needs
- Benefits packages vary in quality by country

“Made hiring in four countries a non-event”
Used monthly for 1–2 years
Contracts, compliance, local benefits and payroll in Poland, Brazil, Spain and the Philippines without opening a single entity. The alternative quote from our lawyers for one country exceeded a year of Deel fees for all four.

“Right answer, but model the crossover point”
Used monthly for 2+ years
Excellent at what it does. At around eight employees in one country the EOR fees exceeded what our accountants quoted to establish a local entity, so we moved that country in-house and kept Deel for the long tail.

“Contractor management is the cheap entry point”
Used monthly for 1–2 years
We started at $49 per contractor rather than full EOR and that covered our needs for a year. Invoicing, tax forms and payments in local currency all handled. Worth knowing you do not have to buy the expensive tier first.
