Overview
What is TalentLMS?
TalentLMS is a cloud learning management system from Epignosis, a US company founded in 2012, for training employees, partners and customers. Companies use it for onboarding, compliance and skills training, and a free plan covers up to 5 users and 10 courses with no time limit.
An administrator builds each course from units: content pages, tests, surveys, SCORM, xAPI and cmi5 packages, and instructor-led sessions held over Zoom, Microsoft Teams, GoToMeeting, GoToWebinar or BigBlueButton. Tests take multiple choice, fill-the-gap, ordering, matching and free-text questions, drawn from random pools if needed, with a passing score and optional retakes. Users are placed in groups, which people can also join with a group key, and branches give departments or client companies their own training portal. Sections can be dripped out up to 365 days after each user enrolls, certificates can expire and reassign the course, and the Extended Timeline keeps what TalentLMS describes as an unalterable record of activity in the portal. Courses can also be sold to outside learners through Stripe or PayPal.
Learners use the web portal or the native iOS and Android apps. Integrations, which need a paid plan, include BambooHR, Salesforce, Shopify, WordPress, Zapier, SFTP, LTI 1.3 and an API. Paid plans are priced in tiers by the number of active users and billed monthly or yearly.

TalentLMS is built for the training side of this category: assigning courses to staff, partners or customers and showing that they finished. SCORM, xAPI and cmi5 packages run on every plan, the free one included, next to native tests with question pools and passing scores. Certificates can expire and hand the course back to the learner, which covers yearly compliance refreshers, and branches let one account run separate portals for departments or client companies.
Selling courses is possible but secondary. A course takes a price and a Stripe or PayPal checkout, a subscription to the whole paid catalog works with Stripe alone, and TalentLMS's help center doesn't document tax calculation or installment payments. Interactive video through TalentCraft is still in beta, and the white-labeled mobile app is Android-only and costs extra.
Pricing follows headcount, not sales. Each paid plan is sold in tiers of active users: on the standard plans, a seat goes to every user marked Active in the portal, and setting someone to Inactive frees it. Core costs $149 a month, or $119 a month billed yearly, for up to 40 active users, then $219 ($159 billed yearly) for 41 to 70 and $279 ($219) for 71 to 100. It includes unlimited courses, a custom domain, single sign-on and the API. Grow starts at $299 a month, or $229 billed yearly, for up to 70 users and adds custom reports, LTI 1.3 and AI test creation. Pro starts at $579 a month, or $449 billed yearly, for 100 users. Its optional flexible user limit, $200 a month more ($150 billed yearly), counts the unique users who log in during each monthly cycle and charges $6 for each one above the tier.
Choose TalentLMS to train and track up to 1,000 people, especially when content arrives as SCORM files or users come from an HR system such as BambooHR, and use the free plan for a pilot course. To sell courses to the public, look at LearnWorlds' Pro Trainer, $99 a month or $79 billed yearly, which charges by plan with up to 2,000 monthly active learners and no enrollment fees, or Thinkific, whose standard plans allow 10,000 current students and charge no platform fee on Thinkific Payments sales.

Is TalentLMS free?
Yes, for up to 5 users and 10 courses. The Free plan has no time limit and needs no credit card, and its first two weeks include a premium trial of most paid features. Uploads are capped at 100 MB per file, against 600 MB on paid plans, and the API and integrations need a paid plan. Paid plans start with Core at $149 a month, or $119 a month billed yearly, for up to 40 active users. See TalentLMS pricing.
How does TalentLMS count users for billing?
By active users. On the standard plans, a seat goes to each user marked Active in the portal, and Inactive users don't occupy one, so deactivating people who have finished their training frees seats. Pro and Enterprise can add a flexible user limit instead. It allows unlimited registered users and bills by the unique users who log in at least once in each monthly billing cycle, charging $6 for each one above the tier on the next bill.
Does TalentLMS support SCORM?
Yes, on every plan, including Free. Courses can hold SCORM 1.2, xAPI (Tin Can) and cmi5 packages as units next to TalentLMS's own content, tests and surveys. LTI 1.3 is available from the Grow plan. File uploads are limited to 100 MB each on Free and 600 MB on paid plans, with no cap on total storage, so a large package may need a paid plan.
Can you sell courses with TalentLMS?
Yes. You set a price on a course, connect Stripe or PayPal, and learners pay through that gateway at checkout. A subscription that opens the whole paid catalog works with Stripe only. TalentLMS's help center doesn't document sales tax calculation or installment payments for course sales, so check how tax will be handled before selling across borders. Does TalentLMS use your data to train AI?
TalentLMS says no. Its AI features run on third-party language models, it says it has opted out of letting those providers use data for training, and input is discarded shortly after processing. Its terms say customers keep the copyright in their content and license TalentLMS to host and display it. The platform runs on AWS, with backups across several availability zones and AES-256 encryption, and TalentLMS lists ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certification.
