What is Tally?
Tally is a web-based form builder from Tally BV, a company in Ghent, Belgium, founded in 2020 by Marie Martens and Filip Minev. Its editor works like a text document: you type the questions and insert fields, page breaks and payment blocks with slash commands. Anyone can start a form without an account, which is needed only to publish.
Forms are a single page by default, and adding a page break after each question turns one into a one-question-at-a-time form with optional auto-jump and a progress bar. Conditional logic shows or hides blocks, skips pages and redirects respondents, calculated fields total prices and quiz scores, and respondents can save their answers and finish later in the same browser. Forms can take Stripe payments, signatures and file uploads. Results land in the Submissions tab, which exports to CSV, while the Insights tab charts answers and works out NPS and CSAT scores. Tally AI drafts or edits a form from a prompt, and Typeform forms import in one click, logic included.
Tally runs in the browser and has no mobile app. Direct integrations cover Google Sheets, Notion, Airtable, Coda, Slack, Discord, Linear and Attio, with Zapier, Make, n8n and Pipedream for anything else, and webhooks and the API are free on every plan. Tally says it stores form data in Europe. The free plan has no cap on forms or submissions within a fair use policy, and the paid plans are priced per organization, with unlimited team members, rather than per seat.

Tally suits individuals and small teams that need real logic, payments and integrations in their forms without paying per response. Its free plan has no cap on forms or submissions within a fair use policy that gives 50,000 submissions a month as an example of excessive use, and it keeps conditional logic, calculations, file uploads, signatures, Stripe payments, webhooks and the API. Payments carry Stripe's processing fees and nothing on top from Tally. The document-style editor will feel familiar to anyone who works in Notion, since questions are typed rather than dragged into place.
The gaps are in the software around the forms. There's no mobile app, and Tally's AI info page lists no live team collaboration among its limitations. Everyone in a paid organization has the same rights to create, edit, view and delete forms, so there are no view-only roles, and a Tally account can belong to only one Pro or Business organization. Tally's compliance material covers GDPR, with no HIPAA option or business associate agreement documented. Booking works only through Calendly or Cal embeds, and Stripe payments can't recur.
Pro is the plan to budget for once forms face customers. At $29 a month, or $24 a month billed yearly as $290, it removes Tally branding and adds custom domains, partial submissions, drop-off analytics, custom CSS and unlimited team members. Business costs $89 a month, or $74 a month billed yearly, and adds automatic deletion of old submissions, respondent email verification and 90-day version history, which matter mainly to teams with data retention rules. Both are one price per organization rather than per seat. Tally offers no free trials and no refunds for unused time, so the free plan is the place to try it.
Choose Tally for feedback forms, lead capture, applications, quizzes and simple order forms, especially when several people need access on a fixed budget. Look elsewhere for regulated or field work. Jotform's Gold plan adds HIPAA features and a signed BAA for $129 a month or $99 billed yearly, and its mobile app collects data offline. Fillout suits teams that want appointment booking inside the form, since its free plan includes a native scheduler for Google and Outlook calendars.

Is Tally free?
Yes. Tally's free plan includes unlimited forms and submissions within its fair use policy, along with conditional logic, calculations, file uploads, signatures, Stripe payments, webhooks and the API. Forms show Tally branding, each uploaded file is limited to 10 MB, and version history goes back 7 days. The fair use policy gives 50,000 submissions or 100 GB of uploads a month as examples of excessive use, and accounts that stay above that for months are offered a custom plan. See Tally pricing.
Does Tally charge per user?
No. Pro and Business are priced per organization, and both let you invite an unlimited number of team members to shared workspaces. Members are invited workspace by workspace, and everyone in the organization has the same rights to create, edit, view and delete forms, so there are no view-only roles. A Tally account can belong to only one Pro or Business organization. Pro costs $29 a month, or $24 a month billed yearly, and Business $89 a month, or $74 a month billed yearly.
Can you collect payments with Tally?
Yes, on every plan, through Stripe. A payment block charges a fixed price or a calculated one, such as an order total built from the respondent's choices, in the currency you pick. Tally adds no fee of its own, though Stripe's processing and currency conversion fees apply. Recurring payments aren't supported, so subscriptions and memberships that bill monthly need another tool. Payment forms count toward the same unlimited submissions as any other form.
Does Tally use form data to train AI?
No. Tally says your forms and submissions are never used to train AI models. It describes itself as the processor of form responses rather than their owner, with the form creator as the controller, and a data processing agreement applies to professional users on sign-up without needing a signature. Form data is stored in Europe on Google Cloud in Belgium, and the Business plan can delete submissions automatically after a period you set.
Can you move forms from Typeform to Tally?
Yes. After you connect your Typeform account, Tally imports any of its forms in one click, with questions, logic and structure included. Forms from other builders can come in as a PDF, image, JSON, CSV, Markdown or Word file, which Tally turns into an editable draft, though conditional logic and calculations aren't extracted from files and have to be added afterward.
